  1. What is important is how you look at jewelery and what you are trying to say. Of course all the big jewelery houses advertise (in the US) the Classic connection to emphasize Jewelery has Always Been Important. You get serif'ed fonts and all the rest. I'd be careful about Sans Serf'ed fonts unless you are going for the idea that Jewels, being stones, are natural objects which are quite beautiful. In that case, you could want an Earth Mother/New Age vibe where a hint of psychedelia might even be appropriate. If you are going to play with the glamour aspect (and I can't resist adding grammerye) of it, then you might combine a serif'ed font with some flashy light thing, like a spotlight on it. I know you said you don't want anything too hard to copy, but believe me, it's much harder to construct than to copy, and it's so straightforward that constructing it isn't that hard. Lettering with a range of values on it might indeed be appropriate. I don't think I'll talk about any specific fonts. Once you have an approach you shouldn't have any problem. You might want to try a modernist, Bauhaus influenced take for all I know (Jewelery is very modern). These are just ideas for approaches, and I don't know who you are (I'm crazy enough so the Earth Mother approach is very appealing to me). Ask yourself who you are and how you feel about Jewelry, and what you have to say about it that is positive (is it part of YOUR heritage?) and you should be able to come up with a font that expresses that.
