How to enforce copyright law on typefaces? In other types of copyright-protected materials, we enforce the copyright law in various ways, which includes not allowing reproduction of the materials involved. However, users of fonts and typeface must use them to publish something. In other words, they will make copies of the copyrighted thing, but that is pefectly OK. Then how do we protect copyright on fonts and typefaces?
Is there software for designing your own typefaces? I think I have a talent for designing type so I want to try this on the computer, but I don't want to spend a lot of money to get it. Is there affordable software out there? It has to be Mac compatible. Thanks!

Where can I download the Gotham family typeface for free? I am a graphic design student and university macs don't provide these typefaces for us. I know I am asking for something impossible but where can I download Gotham family, Frutiger, Futura and other top typeface families for free? I 've been on hundreds of websites that claim you can download them for free, but really you have to pay.

This is from Page 226, #21 of Fundamentals of Technical Mathematics (2nd edition): An impact printer prints 1 page using regular type and 3 pages using bold type in 23 seconds. What are the 10 most basic/essential fonts to study? I'm looking to get to know fonts a little better, and trying to explore some different fonts. What are the most essential 10 fonts I should look at? This list shouldn't just be a best list, but a relevant list. So it should have a modern typeface, a classical typeface, a new take on a modern, a totally original typeface. Please, no silly/corny typefaces. I'm looking for fonts that are seriously relevant in design.
How do i choose a larger typeface for my yahoo home page? The old yahoo home page let me change the size of the print to allow me to read it when using higher display resolutions. I can't find the option in the new yahoo (last couple of years). My eyes are not getting any better. I know I can hit control/shift/+ to increase the type size for the current session, but I want to change the default typeface so that I don't have to do this every time I log on.
How can I begin to market original fonts? Sell to a distributor? Market them myself? I am a graphic designer with many years' experience in signs and typography. In addition to some other freelance work that I sometimes do, I really like to design new typefaces. Where can I look more thoroughly into marketing my work? Any of you had experience in doing this? What software is best these days for the purpose? Thanks for your help!
How can I access and use the alphabet characters that appear in many european languages? I want to produce a concert programme that includes song or music titles in languages such as Swedish and German which requires typefaces where some vowels have to have two dots or apostrophies over them, or like the French 'c' that has that little squiggle under it . Those characters don't of course appear on my English keyboard but I guess there must be some relatively simple way to produce them. Anyone know how to go about it?
Revived typefaces (fonts)? I would like to know of any typefaces from the 1500s to 1700s that have been revived. What I'm looking specifically for is: 1) smooth, not jagged; 2) has all of the ligatures that were used in printing; 3) the long s; 4) italic swashes; 5) small caps and oldstyle figures; and 6) ornaments are useful but not necessary. Thanks. I already know of Adobe Caslon and Garamond. Unfortunately, Adobe Garamond doesn't have the long s.
How to draw the letter "S" or "a" by using a simple drawing software? I like to design typefaces but I have a problem. I am not a calligrapher and I depend on a computer when I try to design letters. I need a simple drawing program which can help me in drawing curves and other complex angles and compositions for making letters in a typeface. I have tried "Adobe Illustrator" but found it difficult and a professional-level program.
How to input alternative characters in Microsoft platforms? Some typefaces provide alternatives to numerals (text figures or titling figures) and certain letters (like italic capital letters with a swoosh). How to input these if I know they are available from the font I'm using? Can I use both text figures and lining figures in the same document (e.g. Microsoft Word)? Specifically, I know the Calibri and Cambria fonts provide both text figures and lining figures, but I checked them with the Windows Character Map and found no alternative figures. Why so?
What do i use to make my own typeface? I really want to make my own handwriting into a font and was wondering what programme to use? Any tips and tricks? And also is it hard to figure out how to use it? (I use a mac)

What is the meaning of the lettering on a water fountain? Way back in grade school, I recall frequently coming across the letters written in a Greek typeface on drinking fountain handles. I know for certain there was at least one delta (Δ), but beyond that, I cannot remember more. Any idea what those letters were, or better yet, their meaning?
How to achieve color overlay effect when printing something? Spot Color? I've seen posters on design sites where shapes or typeface have been overlayed onto each other and creates a transparent-like effect (i.e. one cyan circle halfway on a yellow circle and the area where they touch is a darker green). How is this achieved? Is it just spot color printing or what?
