Typography Work: How can you write ENVY without any words but just a concept? I have to make this poster for my Typography class in College. In which I have to write a poem but well use typographic/calligraphic skills, done by hand, not in computer. I do have my ideas but I don't know how to make a concept or an image of envy or jealousy. I had think of stencils but I just think that's vague, probably many in my class will make the same. What calligraphic image can I do to show envy? or ideas.

Thanks :) Which text? If you're talking about the references, they're supposed to be quite a bit smaller than the rest. It's just in jpg to post on here so I can have a preview to show. The x's are there to show the text as a bigger font size.
Typography in the environment? Right I'd like some help from you very nice peoples. I am a art and design student soon to be graphics and for the summer holidays we have to do some homework. .. oh the joy. And basically its what it says on the title, we have to find words in the environment E.g. road markings making a Y or K, etc. So i have that done nearly. But as well as this, we have to do a sketchbook full of typography things. So far i have cut outs of posters with different typography from different years. I just don't know how to start my first page. It has to say "Typography in the Environment" It would be totally amazing if you guys could help me with some ideas. My mind is totally blank I look forward to hearing from you guys ^^ Thank you In addition, it has to be a letter using the environment, like i have picture of a wheel representing a O. i'm sorry for it not being clearer. I just need something for my first page

Any designers out there? Hello, I am studying graphic design and my current project is on the subject of good and bad manners. The tricky part of this project is we are not allowed to use any imagery. It has to be typography only. I have a few ok ideas eg having a slogan saying 'Don't push in to a queue' with some text trying to barge it's way into the queue. Today though I have gone off the idea a little, and was thinking about the film Charlie and the chocolate factory and ho wth greedy bad mannered kids ended up with nothing and well mannered Charlie ended up with the factory. So I am sort of thinking on the lines of good manners can be well rewarded or nice guys don't always finish last etc. As it is only type based though I am struggling to think of ways in which I can make an exciting poster on this subject. If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful. Hopefully I will be inspired by something soon. Thanks for anyone that has made the effort to read all this :)
PLEASE GRADE MY WORK? Besides the obvious, i just wan to make note that this poster is simply just a poster its not for anything in specific except typography http://www.flickr.com/photos/pandaemonium_4youreye/4731661715/
Ideas for a final graphic art piece? I've got to create a final piece in a 2 part AS exam lasting 6 hours. The subject of research was an internet gaming cafe, and all we were really given was those three words. My teacher (I think... I wasn't paying much attention because I was hooked to photoshop at the time) said that we can essentially do anything as long as we justify it within our research. One person for example, is making a pack of cards related to gaming that they would give out at a cafe opening. I have been researching things like spider webs and more literal representations of an internet gaming cafe, like photoshopping an ethernet port onto a cup full of coffee beans with binary steam. I have looked at typography, use of colour from stuff at Pentagram ltd, and other stuff like photoshopping things together to get ideas. I thought for the exam I would make an advertising poster that would be placed on the windows before a fictional cafes launch, and perhaps a website banner that would advertise the cafe. Would that be good enough? I thought they were pretty substandard ideas to be honest, and I dont really have any physical art skills other than computer related ones (I took graphic art for the computing sector, 3d etc) Well, I have hand skills, but my attention span for that sort of stuff if lacking compared to when I am on a PC. Any ideas welcome.
Comment on my first independent graphic design? I have very little design experience, I've only take one class. I'm 21 years old and this is my first independent design I've ever worked on. I got my inspiration from a Psycho movie poster. http://www.flickr.com/photos/39059558@N05/3950902328/ I'm not at all experienced but I do sort of like this but what do I know? I haven't earned my wings yet. The class was a Typography 101 class, thanks in advance, appreciated. I just love to share my work with others, makes me feel a little more important and lively. Thanks in advance.
Frustrated with university graphic design ...? Basically, I do graphic design and I'm so disillusioned after this year, the whole course was essentially typography, which is interesting but it's so frustrating that the tutor has a passion for it, hence other areas such as web design and animation are discouraged e.g. six weeks spent on a type poster vs. the one class, ONE on animation and motion graphics ... I'm using this summer to get into the library and really try and learn something about design and it's history but honestly half my class are image conscious, mac worshipping, suck-ups and working with them is painful to me - nobody can have pure fun and just be messy It sounds like I'm some sort of outsider in the class but I was top of the class in semester 1 and in the top 5 in semseter 2, which was only 8 weeks but it was a consant struggle, missing out on a 1st becuase I didn't 'chat' to the tutors enough, but I simply don't want to, they're not appraochable ... plus it cost me £3000 ... am I wrong to feel this way?
Graphic Design?!? Hello. Im looking into a Computer Graphics Technology course at my College. The first year program-a one-year foundation certificate-teaches you the basics, and also lets you select a specility to focas on from there. That is my problem. All I have ever done is forum graphics, just stuff in Photoshop. The specelties they offer is: animation, web design, multimedia, publishing and webdesign. So is webdesign, like HTML, and makeing sites? What is Publishing, typography (sp), storyboarding, and screening Im HORRIBLE with Math (very Special ed.). I dont know if Id want to do Game Design, or, Animation. Is 2D Animation like normal cartoons, and 3D like Pixar stuff? And Graphic Design, in the work-force, is probbaly makeing posters, banners, ads. Right? I need help please. I dont understand what they list as Specilties... Is Screening like T-shirt screening? What the hell is publishing... I'm really intrested in Game Design, and Animation. But Animation...2D or 3D, am I right in thinking 3D is more of the new Pixar type of Animation? And I know there is usually a Team of Designers on a Game, do you know the diffrent types?
What do you think of my anti fur poster for College? I decided to make a typography anti fur poster, http://s159.photobucket.com/albums/t150/MarthaMay1717/?action=view¤t=Picture18.png what do you think? and what should i change? thanks! First answer - a) it was an assignment. b) you obviously didn't read the poster, the gun says 'how far would yo go for fashion?' i dont think people who use fur for survival are also using it as a fashion statement!!
